Moin 2018!

While we count the last hours of 2017, it is time to think of the goals for the upcoming year. I never really did this before, because somehow my way was always defined by certain goals anyway. When you go to school, your goal is to have good grades. When you go to university, the goal is the same. When you need to find a job, you get a job, yada yada yada.

But now with my quarter life crisis (xD) coming up, it suddenly feels important to recall what actually makes me happy and what I want to do in 2018 without getting lost in my steady dull routine of everyday life.

The first thing sounds simple or even a bit dull, but it definitely is a thing I wanna fix next year. I want to delete stress from my life, focus more on leaving the flat to have long walks (maybe I should get one of these step trackers xD) and I want to understand, what I want in life and what I don't want. I hope some of my health issues get fixed in this way. Goal number one and definitely the most important one!

Me tired on a boat >.<

Oranienburg | Brandenburg

Oranienburg was one of the destinations on my Brandenburg-list, so today I decided to go there spontaneously. Unfortunately I was in such a bad mood, that the grey sky totally killed the day and I spent only one hour there to have a walk.

2017 in recap

Yes, it is time for the standard end of the year recap of 2017!

I will start right away with some private matters: 2017 was a hard year for me and in fact I would love to say that 2017 completeley ******, but that would be a lie. There were good times this year and there were bad times this year. The bad thing about this year: health. The good things this year? Let's try to find out in this blog post!

Xmas-Berkel | Lower Saxony

We are back from our Christmas trip! It was so great and I hope you readers also had great holidays. This year we went to stay at my family's place in Lower Saxony and we hastened from one "appointment" to the other. We stayed only two days in total and usually a trip like that should feel stressy, but weirdly I am totally relaxed after this Christmas trip. We dined like kings, we laughed a lot and we had some great after lunch walks.

Fröhliche Weihnachten!

What a stressy week! Today I am counting the last hours left before heading back to good ol' Lower Saxony and I really can't wait to be in my calm hometown again. These last two weeks were really so packed with dinners and hangouts, that yesterday I simply passed out on the sofa and woke up this morning, haha!

Jimmy & Way

Hi! You already got to know our little cute guinea pigs Adriana, Clara and Marianna. Today I want to introduce also two other fellas, because I think they might occur on this blog always once in a while. I am talking about the dogs of my parents and of the parents of my boyfriend.

Frankfurter Tor | Berlin

Moinsn! I am actually a bit unsure what to blog about this week, because I didn't take any photos or had much adventure. Week one of Christmas rush hour is over and it's time for the last Christmas parties before the actual Christmas holiday this weekend. Last week I went out to eat Hawaiian (Dragon Bowl Berlin - so good), I had sushi with my guest mom, I had a nice mulled wine with a friend and on Saturday me and my boyfriend spent some time at his friend's place to eat Calabrian cullurielli (or also called cuddrurieddri - which I really can't pronounce). Super tasty week I say and best of all: the eating goes on this week!

A Taiwanese Day in Berlin

Now that I got all these Magdeburg/Brandenburg-posts off of my chest, I can finally get back to current blog business. As I told you along the way, this week on Monday my guest mom Becky from Taiwan visited Berlin and of course I did a small sightseeing trip with her.

Civitate Brendanburg | Brandenburg, BB

Third and last one! Then the many posts about my weekend of two weeks ago are (finally?) over. Today I will show you the last remaining random photos, that I somehow liked. Oh, by the way, I am actually aware, that I am not a professional photographer. I just hope out of the blog I can gain some experiences shooting nice pictures! So here are my experiments from the Brandenburg trip! :P

Roland | Brandenburg, BB

Oh my God. I don't know where to start. Roland! It's not what I thought it is! Haha. Okay, I explain this weird beginning of this blogpost: as you might have read in one of my introductions (my CV) I lived in Bremen for about two years. On the main square in Bremen there is a statue of a knight called Roland. While I lived in Bremen I never questioned any historic facts. I just lived there. It is not like now, that I want to know some details about the place where I travel to or where I live. That means: the Roland of Bremen was the Roland of Bremen for me. "Is probably a guy that did something great here."

Brandenburg an der Havel | Brandenburg

Ciao! Yes, as mentioned a hundred times by now I went to Brandenburg two weeks ago! Same like in Magdeburg I took way too many photos. I am so easily fascinated by places where I have never been before. That means I was also fascinated by Brandenburg an der Havel!

Magdeburg Cathedral | Saxony-Anhalt

Do you remember me mentioning Otto I. in the last post? Well., seems his grave is here: in the Magdeburg Cathedral. From the documentaries that I watched I learnt he was the first emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, so he was basically the first man bringing the Germans together. It is so crazy. There are all this historically important facts about Magdeburg and I never heard of those facts before.

Otto-City | Magdeburg, ST

I warned you. It's gonna be Magdeburg, Magdeburg, Magdeburg and more Magdeburg for a while until I start to write about Brandenburg, Brandenburg and more Brandenburg, haha. This blogpost is just a ramble. Be prepared!

Sankt Petri Church | Magdeburg, ST

Moin! Let's get back to my day trip to Magdeburg of last Saturday! I had to put some food and guinea pig posts in between, so now there can follow the extreme spam of city pictures xD (Yes, sorry... there will be nothing else than Magdeburg and Brandenburg for a while. Scusi!)

Wednesday, 6 December 2017

Today we say hello to our baby girl: Marianna. We had Clara and Adriana since half a year, when we decided to get a third guinea pig. I read a lot of stuff on the net: guinea pigs are group animals. You should have minimum two, but it is better to keep more of them. So we went back to the zoo shop and checked if they got guinea pigs to sell.

'ntra cucina | Pepata di cozze

I finally made it to follow my boyfriend in the kitchen preparing one of my favourite dishes ever: Impepata di cozze! He prepared a primo and a secondo for us. We first had linguine with mussels, followed by a spicy soup with mussels. So tasty!

We used:
Mussels (cozze in Italian, Miesmuscheln in German)
2 pieces of garlic
Olive Oil
Cherry tomatoes
Linguine (type of "spaghetti" if you don't know them - Italians probably kill me for this description)
Spices (pepper, salt, garlic salt, oregano, paprika)
secret ingredient (super spicy stuff)

Magdeburg | Saxony-Anhalt

Last weekend was so great! I visited Magdeburg and Brandenburg an der Havel and took way too many photos - and I mean way way too many photos! I had the luck to have a long weekend, so let's start with Magdeburg (part 1 of 100 xD)!

As I told you already in my post about Frankfurt (Oder), the travel mania got me again. Few years ago, I was always totally into going anywhere as far as possible. But I don't know... I watched a bit too many documentaries about German history lately and came to the same conclusion that my grandpa had after going to Italy over and over and over and over again: Why always going far, if there is also so much to see in our closer surround?

Waiting for Krismers

Woohey! It's that time of the year again! I don't know when exactly I started to really love Christmas time, but whenever it was: it happened. Of course as a kid you love it, cause you want them presents. Then as a grown up you kinda grow tired of it, cause presents simply don't give you the kick anymore. I feel the same way about presents: I don't even want any!

Friday, 1 December 2017

Moin! Today is guinea pig day again. In my last guinea pig post I introduced Clara to you. Now is the time to also show her companion: Adriana.

We got her the same day we took Clara from the zoo shop. When we took the two girls we decided for Clara, because she was clearly the most recognisable, and we chose Adriana, because she has a white spot on her head. My boyfriend thought of it as some sort of hommage to The Nanny sitcom: "We got a Mrs Sheffield now."

Buon appetito!

The way to Hibi's heart is definitely through her stomach! This saying is so true and there are so many dishes, that me and my boyfriend enjoy. Those here are my favourites (next to so many others)!

Seafood salads
This is something not so easy to do, since it can easily be overcooked and the seafood itself can get extremely chewy. Usually my boyfriend handles it well, so that is not that much of a problem, but we did the bad experience of chewyness, when we bought a seafood salad at the fisherman's. Never again I'd say.

Słubice | Poland

As I said in my post about Frankfurt (Oder), let's leave the country! I went to Poland for my first time ever on last Saturday. And I literally went there!

Wednesday, 22 November 2017

Hey! As I said in my introduction, I want to present each of my guinea pigs to you. Today we do the start with our blonde hair model Clara.

We start with her, cause she carries the name of Clara: our fake guinea pig, which we bought at TK Maxx in Neukölln. Weirdly my boyfriend never heard of animals called guinea pigs. That led to a bit of irritation, cause I couldn't believe, that in Italy nobody knows what a guinea pig is. It seems true for some part of Italy. In Germany every little kid knows the cute little guinea pigs. When we introduced our new family members to my boyfriend's parents, the first question was: "But are they rats?"

Frankfurt an der Oder | Brandenburg

Yesterday I had a really great day! I did a day trip to Frankfurt (Oder) and for the very first time I went to Poland. I "planned" to explore a bit my closer surround, which apart from Berlin is the federated state of Brandenburg. I remember rambling at work "yeah, I will totally explore Brandenburg! There should be so much to see!!!" That was maybe two years ago.

Cities in Brandenburg visited since that day: 0
Amount of times I said those sentences: ~ 500

Well, but as to cite Family guy, yesterday was my day to wish it, want it, do it. So, I did it. I jumped into the train at Alexanderplatz station in Berlin and only one hour later I was in Frankfurt an der Oder.

Thursday, 16 November 2017

Ciao! Today I will blog about me... again (as some sort of additional intro to my intro's intro)! Sorry for those boring starter posts, but unfortunately I am a structure addict and this simply has to be written, so I have my very well organised starters on which everything should build up in the end xD

As I said in my intro and intro's intro I live in Berlin. But that was not always like that. Like a lot of people, I just moved to Berlin. My roots are somewhere else. So this blogpost is a bit of a CV, explaining my way to Berlin.

Intro... again

Ciao! It's me again. This is a small introduction - again - cause I figured basically all my readers and also all my favourite blogs are inactive now. So I am all new to this game!

My (not for real) name is Hibi! I am 25 years old and I live in Berlin together with my boyfriend and our three little lovely cavies. In our free time we really love live music and cooking together. I enjoy a lot taking care of the guinea pigs, I love having long walks outside and I like to be a bit creative. For this blog I think there will be three main parts that I will always talk about once in a while:

No. 1: Guinea pigs
Say hello to Marianna, Clara and Adriana - our little cavies, that never stop to be hungry! I will introduce each of them soon in an own blogpost, because each of them got really lovely characteristics!

Sunday, 5 November 2017

Dear readers,

This is a short introduction post to my new blog "Cavy 61". I'm saying new blog, cause in fact I actually once had a blog already (the ancient Hibi-the-Gibi-blogspot dated back to 2012), where I blogged as my alias Hibi. I also prefer this nickname for this blog, so... Hi, my name is Hibi!
